We are proud to introduce the National Social Work Coalition (NSWC), a growing, multi-state network of experienced social work leaders united by a shared commitment to organizing, advocating, and acting in alignment with our profession’s core values and ethical standards. Grounded in an awareness of our shared history, we are committed to shaping a future firmly rooted in the social work code of ethics.
The NSWC was formed in response to NASW’s 2025 restructuring, which included the termination of fourteen Chapter Executive Directors and the dissolution of state-level representation. All of which was carried out without transparency or member input.
In the aftermath, our group devoted countless hours reviewing publicly available information to support coordinated advocacy, seek accountability, and better understand the broader impact of these decisions on the profession. These efforts were met not with engagement, but with silence and denigration.
Through this experience, we were reminded of a fundamental truth: we must be the change we seek.
Today, we are focused on repairing harm to professional relationships, networks, and communities. We stand united in the belief that empowering local and state-level social work organizations is essential to the strength and future of our profession. That conviction shapes our intentionally different approach. The NSWC is committed to:
Our goal is to build a sustainable, connected network where local leadership is not only preserved, but strengthened. We have a lot of exciting things coming including a new website! We welcome each of you to join us in these efforts. If you are interested, please reach out via messenger, or email at info@nationalsocialworkcoalition.org.
